One of our most demanding projects was porting a field service application from Windows CE to Android. Field engineers used it on ruggedised handhelds to connect to industrial equipment on-site — acquiring live data over HART and Fieldbus protocols, running performance analysis, executing calibration routines, and plotting real-time graphs on device. It depends on your use case. Flutter and React Native are ideal for most business apps — one codebase, two stores, faster delivery. Qt is worth considering if you are already in an embedded C++ ecosystem or need to share code with a desktop or industrial HMI application — Qt's cross-platform reach extends well beyond mobile. Native Android (Kotlin) or iOS (Swift) is the right choice when you need deep hardware access, direct equipment communication, real-time data handling, or platform-specific APIs that cross-platform frameworks do not expose cleanly. A straightforward single-platform app typically takes 8–14 weeks from design to store submission. Cross-platform apps with Flutter or React Native follow a similar timeline with the advantage of covering both platforms simultaneously. Apps with backend integration, hardware connectivity, real-time data visualisation, or offline sync take longer and are scoped individually.
